Terry Wilson

Founder & Group Director · MCIOB · AMICE

For Terry, the idea behind Wilson True was never simply to create another company name. It was to create a brand that stood for something.

A name people could associate with professionalism. A name clients could trust. A name built carefully, deliberately, and with standards that would not be compromised as the business grew.

That is what Wilson True is being built to become.

More than three decades of industry experience

Terry has worked for more than 34 years across construction, civil engineering, structural engineering, architectural design, consultancy, and project management.

Throughout that time, he has built his career on practical knowledge, technical understanding, and the ability to see the bigger picture of a building project.

His experience spans both domestic and commercial work, supporting homeowners, property buyers, architects, builders, developers, and commercial clients across a wide range of instructions.

Terry is a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute of Building (MCIOB) and an Associate Member of the Institution of Civil Engineers (AMICE), with additional professional experience in structural engineering, structural surveying, architecture, planning and building consultancy, health and safety, and multidisciplinary project leadership.

Building the Wilson business journey

Before Wilson True Group, Terry spent many years building professional service businesses within the property and construction sector.

He previously founded and operated Wilson Architectural Building Designs, an architectural design company that served residential and commercial clients for approximately 15 years.

He later established Wilson Architectural Engineering Ltd, a structural engineering consultancy that has provided structural calculations, structural surveys, structural inspections, and engineering advice for around four years across London, the South East of England, and East Anglia.

As that business developed, Terry recognised that the opportunity in front of him was bigger than a single consultancy. He saw the potential to create something broader — a professional brand capable of supporting multiple specialist disciplines under one shared standard.

That vision became Wilson True Group.

Why Wilson True was created

Wilson True was built on a simple but important belief: that professional services should be clear, honest, accountable, and delivered properly.

Terry wanted the brand to reflect the values he believes clients should experience when they work with a professional consultancy:

  • Honesty
  • Professionalism
  • Helpfulness
  • Trust
  • Strong standards
  • Dependable advice

For Terry, the word True is not decorative. It is intentional. It represents the way he believes a business should operate.

  • True to our clients
  • True to our word
  • True to professional standards
  • True in our advice
  • True in our accountability
  • True in the relationships we builds

That philosophy now sits at the heart of Wilson True Group and every company being developed under it.

Community and charity work

Alongside his professional work, Terry has always believed that experience and professional knowledge should also be used to support the wider community.

Over the years, Terry has regularly offered his time, structural advice, designs and calculations free of charge to a variety of schools, churches, charities and community projects, as part of his ongoing commitment to supporting organisations and initiatives that make a positive difference to people and local communities.

Terry is also proud to support the RAF Benevolent Fund, donating to and sponsoring the charity in recognition of the important work it carries out for serving RAF personnel, veterans, and their families.

Terry’s father served as a rear gunner in a Halifax bomber with RAF 35 Squadron during World War II. The actual plane he flew in, known as Halifax “S” for Sugar, is on display at the London RAF Museum and is the last remaining Halifax bomber in the world.

This commitment to community support reflects the wider values behind Wilson True Group — using professional success not only to build businesses, but also to contribute positively where possible.

Family, legacy, and long-term purpose

Wilson True Group is not only founder-led — it is also being built with family involvement and long-term purpose.

Terry’s son, Ron Wilson, works within the business as Structural Engineering Manager, bringing civil engineering, health and safety, and principal designer expertise into the group.

His daughter, Matilda Wilson, supports the business as a Digital Marketing and Client Manager, helping to grow the Wilson True brand while supporting client communication and business development.

Together with the wider team, they are helping to build a business defined by shared values, strong standards, and a long-term mindset.

For Terry, Wilson True is not just about the present. It is about legacy. It is about building something that lasts.

Looking ahead

Terry continues to lead Wilson True Group with a clear objective: to build a respected, recognisable, and trusted professional brand within the built environment and wider consultancy sectors.

The long-term ambition is to create a family of specialist businesses known for:

  • High standards
  • Trusted advice
  • Strong leadership
  • Accountability
  • Professionalism
  • Long-term client relationships

Because the strongest brands are not built quickly.

  • They are built carefully.
  • They are built consistently.
  • And they are built on standards that do not change.

That is what Terry is building with Wilson True.
